The name of the station means International and originates from the fact that many streets in the area (including these two) have been named to commemorate Eastern European politicians or cities.
The station is decorated in very light and warm colors. The underground vestibule is dedicated to the birth of civilization. The artistic accent of the interior space of the lobby is a frieze panel made in the workshop of the Russian Academy of Arts (artist A.K. Bystrov). The smalt panel depicts the traditional symbol of St. Petersburg - Atlant. The track walls are lined with white marble, the floors are gray granite with gabbro-diabase inserts.
